A little about me
Let me start by saying that I am no exception to the feelings of awkwardness you get when having to write these things about yourself! That being said, if I'm going to ask you to show up and be vulnerable when working with me, then for now, I can do the same for you.
My journey into counselling has been developing, in many ways, my whole life. But, it's not where things began. I did an undergrad in marketing and consequently spent ~13 years of my career working in this field before I made the transition. At this point, staring down the barrel of 4 years part-time study alongside full-time work, I almost threw out the idea completely. But then, I began seeing signs everywhere (or, as some might call them, 'retargeted paid digital ads') and I happened upon this quote: 'Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway'. (Believe me, I'm cringing as I write this but it is the truth. I am not immune to the effects of an inspirational quote!) Since I thought this made a pretty good point (and don't forget 'the signs') I figured I'd put one foot in front of the other and just go for it. Thankfully, I haven't looked back.
Why I became a counsellor was simply because the experience of deeply connecting with people and being able to offer them nurturing support and hold space for them during the most difficult moments of their lives has given me more purpose and joy than anything else in my life. It really is such a special and sacred experience to share the therapeutic space and help someone else feel heard, seen and understood, so that in turn they can release themselves from shame, guilt and the pain of past experiences, narratives and beliefs. We are all imperfectly human and each deserve to live the lives we desire to their fullest possible expression.
I've been lucky to witness many transformations that my clients have experienced through the process of therapy. It means a lot to me that I can create a safe and nurturing space for people, and that I can guide you through the exploration of deeper thoughts and feelings, to heal old wounds, and to grow into happier and more resilient people.
